Technical Lead (Integrated Heating, Cooling and Ventilation Systems. In this role you will provide technical leadership in developing solutions for integrated heating, cooling and ventilation systems. You will understand and anticipate the changing needs of the product category based on customer requirements and legislative changes, and drive the research on novel heating, cooling and ventilation solutions using integrated technologies including heat pumps and heat distribution systems. Primary Responsibilities and Tasks: • Develop, motivate and manage a technical development team to ensure personnel acquire and apply the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours to create new innovative solutions for heating, cooling and ventialtion. • Provide the technical leadership in the development of heat pumps from a refrigeration technology point of view. • Ensure together with the other members of the R&D team that projects are delivered in line with agreed scope and time targets and in a commercially astute manner. • Assist with the development and constant improvement of appropriate test facilities, data processing and product validation. • Support continuous improvement activity on the broader heating and cooling range of products. • Analyse and understand building regulations, IEC, EN, BS standards and other legislative requirements in order to inform future strategic development. • Engage with the commercial team and other stakeholders to identify new innovations and product opportunites. • Evaluate new product ideas from a technology point of view and carry out feasibility studies. This might involve building first prototypes and carrying out performance tests. • Provide technical expertise on heat pump and heating/cooling/ventilation systems. • Supervise product certification of heat pumps according to the Quality systems and certified test rigs. Interested applicants should have: An engineering degree in a relevant subject, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in refrigeration, heat pumps, heat transfer or similar. Master's or PhD in an engineering subject would be an advantage. • Experience in refrigeration and/or heat pump, hydraulic heating and cooling systems. • Computer literate with experience in carrying out experiments. • A good understanding of general mechanical engineering issues & heat transfer. • Excellent analytical skills, with strong attention to detail. • Excellent communication skills, written and oral. • Proven ability to work on own initiative with a minimum of supervision. • An enthusiastic, pro-active approach to work, with a positive "can do" attitude, capable of delivering results within demanding timescales. • A positive attitude towards team working, ownership and accountability. • Familiarity with test & safety standards EN14511, EN14825, EN16147, EN60335, EN378… would be beneficial. • Knowledge of UK and Irish building regulations including familiarity with building compliance would be advantageous.
