The successful candidate will join a team of motivated and focused engineers, having responsibility for design, development and support, through to mass production, of projects within the team. The research and development group work with internal and external and partners in the design and delivery of state of the art control solutions, spanning the full spectrum of technologies from basic through to Internet of Things (IoT) applications. As an embedded systems engineer, you will be afforded the opportunity to work in the development of these projects through to deployment. Primary Responsibilities and Tasks: Participate in the design, development and deployment of electronic systems, both hardware and software, spanning a wide spectrum of complexity and technologies. Develop and implement test procedures to verify design operation and compliance to international standards e.g. CE/EMC. This will require the candidate to keep up to date with relevant industry standards. Generation, management and dissemination of system specifications, bills of materials and technical documentation. Collaborate with national and international partners and project stake holders to ensure successful project delivery within specific time and budgetconstraints. Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures. Contribute to the development of new concepts, technologies and products. General design reviews and problem resolution. Requirements: Candidates must have a relevant degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline with, ideally, 2 years plus experience. An understanding of power electronics, systems design engineering, control and communication principles. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, an ability to understand complex problems and generate appropriate pragmatic technical solutions. Proven ability to analyse technical development/design issues and manage them to resolution. Prototype build and test. Experience of product design to relevant international standards. Implement and control technical changes during the products life cycle. Electronics hardware development: Ability to read, analyse and understand electronic schematic diagrams. Ability to conduct theoretical analysis and rudimentary simulations. Mixed digital, analogue and embedded system circuit design, simulation and implementation. Concise understanding of embedded systems architecture. Schematic design and Printed Circuit Board layout. Mixed electrical and electronic circuit analysis and debug. Embedded software development: Embedded software development experience using C/++ programming and development toolsets for 8/16/32 bit microcontrollers. A knowledge of Python programming language would be advantageous. Experience in communication protocols including: SPI, I2C, LIN, Modbus, RS232, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, bespoke multi-hop bidirectional wireless protocols. Develop and implement test procedures to verify design operation and compliance to international standards e.g. CE/EMC. This will require the candidate to keep up to date with relevant industry standards. Generation, management and dissemination of system specifications, bills of materials and technical documentation.
