Currently seeking a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a North East Service, providing a variety of centre and community based residential and day services for people with various degrees of intellectual disabilities in counties Louth, Meath and Monaghan. You will be required to support service users, family members and staff, as part of a multi-disciplinary team. An excellent opportunity, if you are independent and looking to take ownership of your role, as you will be the primary Speech and Language Therapist. Requirements: A degree in Speech & Language Therapy recognised by the Department of Health, and be eligible for membership of the Irish Association of Speech & Language Therapists. 3 years post-grad experience, with some experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities. Post grad experience working with dysphagia. Ability to work well on own initiative as well as a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to manage own caseload. Responsibilities: To assess, develop, implement and monitor programmes of SLT support for people with communication and/or FEDS difficulties. To prioritise caseload according to clinical need in the context of service policy. To delegate clinical caseload appropriately for service area. To contribute to supporting service users in achieving their personal goals. To liaise with and involve as appropriate, staff members directly working with service-users. To facilitate parental/family involvement in the development and maintenance of effective communication systems / FEDS management for service users. To demonstrate effective team working to ensure an optimum service is provided for all service users. To record service user related information in accordance with local service and professional standards. To balance clinical demands with other responsibilities through effective time management and organisational skills.
